help of the emotional catharsis of music. and broke some stuff and in the process entertained a room full of people. and pissed off a handful who thought the actions of the entertainers was insensitive to their ideals. punk rock. am somewhat disillusioned and somewhat unsuprised...if I had a friend who was black and they had stolen something from me and it pissed me off so I wrote a song about it, and performed it, included were some "stage antics" these included having a dark-skinned dummy by a rope in which case I did nothing to provoke the crowd in exerting unnecessary rage toward the "doll" except sing about how I was so pissed and hurt... would that be okay? What if I was totally "harmless"?... punk rock, as this supposed scene (read:click) is called, IS about those handful of scrutinizers that are offended, that are pissed off ..not the roomful that are so easily and unthinkingly, numbly being entertained . . the entertainees are the masses ... this "scene" is so fucking mainstream oriented ... no matter how subversive you would like to think it is, the true punks are the ones that examine and criticize ...not dumbly except this "entertainment"... and the lame excuse that the band are kids from nowhere?.. well look around you mr. * * * * --where the hell do you think we are ?...this kind of shit would not fly anywhere else ... the fact that the perpur-trators are actually nice, and they are (I've hung out with them)-makes this kind of shit even worse----why can't we all get along? ... we can't get along when we don't have a strong community-the roots of punk get soggy without it ...a click is not a community ... we have to be willing to look at our faults and our training and help each other, this is only way to strengthen our scene this movement of Resistance ... why can't we all just get along?.. because not all of us can blind our eyes and |
